WELCOME. At the Welcome, things are progress* ing in a very satisfactory manner, all parts of the mine look remarkably well, and splendid stone is showing in all tho faces, and the output has been maintained at a good average both in quality and quantity. The contractors for the extension of the No. 6 level are getting on first-rate, as are also tbose for sinking the winze from the intermediate to tho low level, who are now down about 40 ft. Crushing has been kept up with great regularity, and the interim weekly clean* iog will take place to-day, when the cus** tomary splendid result will be forthcoming. The reef in the No. 6 level is 2ft 6in wiJe, and carries magnificent; gold. JUST-IN-TIME. Driving nortb in tbe winze, htcly oc* cupied, is still being proceeded witb along a good body of stone, showing a fair sprinkling of gold. About 50 tons of quartz are on hand, but the trial crush* ing, which was intended to be mude at this time, is postponed for anotber week or two. FIERY CROSS. The sinking of the main shaft 150 feet which was abandoned by the first con* tractors, was re«let to Messrs French and Coch.ane at £5 19s per foot. The preliminary works in connection With tho contract will probably take a week, after which tbe real sinking will commence.
