The winze is now down between 50 and 60 feet, and continues to follow a well-defined lode containing a very fair percentage of gold say, about 2 *z-» per ton. For about 20 feet the reef did not present sucb a solid appearance as now, nor was gold so freely seen but sineo then the improvement has been markedIt was at first intended to take out a crushing at a dopth of 60 feet, but this has not yet been definitely settled, probably a greater depth will have been reached before crushing is commenced. The sinking so far has resulted in about 50 tons of stone to the surface, which is being increased daily. The level eoin^ north is now in a distance of TO feet from the chamber, and small spurs and leader* containing gold are seldom nVnpnt froni the face, but as yet the lode has not formed solid nor regular, but a* the level is progressing this may bo expected to occur at any time.
