The contractors for the extension of the low level have now cut through the evlremely bard country, whi:h to some extent has hitherto retarded speedy progress. The ground is now easier, and better headway will be made. During the week the water in the workings has increased considerably, bat it is sup* posed that this influx is only temporary, such as is frequently met with and tapped in new land, and the probability is that the flow of water will decrease in ft day or two.
