BOATMAN'S.
: WELCOME. ' The regularity of the workings of this company's mine and battery has been fully maintained during the week, and the average amount of stone has been pot through the mill. The exact number of tons has hitherto not been minutely as» certained, but the company have now made arrangements for the measurement and computation of the output, so that henceforth reliable data will be obtained in this respect. The winze, which is being suuk by contract from the intermediate to the low level, is now on a solid body of quartz of very good quali'y, but owing to the hardness and
compact nature of the reef, the progress through it is slower, than at the upper part of the winze. About 35 feet more remains before tbe connection is made. Owing to the report of a good substan* tial reef being struck in the low (No 6) level, shares in adjoining claims have advanced in price. The following are the returns for the week :— Seven hundred and fifty-four ounces of amalgam, from 100 tons of stone.
