» The trial of the assassins of the late Emperor began od April Bth, Jeletboff conducted bis own defence. The reading of tbe indictment occupied twp hours. Tbe prisoner was then interrogated The late Czar's coachman was also examined. The prisoner, declined to state tbeir names, ages, professions, or domiciles. The President of tbe Court asked the prisoners whether they wished to say anything. Russakcff, who threw one of the bombs, spoke for half-anrho^r. He said that he primarily desired to agitate peacefully, but entered into the late conspiracy seeing no other way out of their social troubles. Michaeloff, was arrested as he entered Kußsako_f 8 house, said be belonged to the terrorist faction of this party, but denied Bussakoff s statement tbat he participated in the arrangements for murder of the Czar. Wessey Helf* manna acknowledged that she kept a conspirators lodgingbouse, which was kept for their employment, but -denied having actually participated in the Czar's assassination. Bebalk** scbtßcb, the bombmaker, avowed his connectiou with the ' Will of tbe People' party, He said they wished to gain their object by a peaceful pro* paganda, but were reluctantly obliged to adopt terroristic measures. He admitted preparing five bombs. Sophia Piefibsky avowed her participation in the preparation of the Moscow mine, and tbe murder of the Czir. Jetatboff, who is tbe most intelligent of the prisoners, fluently related, with diabolical satisfaction, the history of the two Alexandrowsky mines. He said he was head of one group of the party, snd was charged by the Executive Committee with the work of organising the attack by bombs, and was connected with the Sadow-.treefc mines as a simple worker. [The execution of the assassins was an** nounced in our cablegrams a fow days back.]
