Co-tiogwood. and con'ain met -id Serous deposits o* Gob*!, Silrer, Copner, Lead, and Z<mc, be I? ved to be in vast qmntiiies, and easily procurable by judicious ■roanigfrneiit — io\e the last year ibe Company bave steadily been proving tbe Mine. Part of the Sou* Western Corner of this ground was worked by tl e " Per< severance," and, fo a very smnll ex'ent, also the " Deciinil " Company, from which (by statements of these Com« panies) it ia shown that £12,000 worth of Gold was procured from a very small piece of ground, the ' De imal Company ' alone g>v ng £2000 from a sp»ce of 15 to 20 ft., vide, memo from tbe late Mr Bnckeride, the Legal Manager of the « Decimal Company/ to Mr Johnston. Mr Buckerldge further stales that his Compiny were unable to work their ground owing to great jealousies be* ween the two Companies, and the biih choree? imposed upon their Company by tbe 1 Perseverance Company ' for the use of WHter and the right to tiO»k from H«p 1 • Perse vetance ' ground. Mr Pucberidge concludns his memo by saving, "but owing to the great expeo.ee which it ap» j peared would be necessary and to the Comiany'B Capital being exhausted, tha claim, wahnMi'maiely abandoned, althonah the SharehO'ders and others believe that there is a large amount of Gold in their own and the ' Perseverance' claims.' Tbe ' Pe- severance Co«i»fiaoy' worked their ground from an incline shaft, and having inadequate pumping a p«ratu», were prevented from coutinuins work, a report of Mr J. C. Kichmond's to (be Shareholders of the ' Pe^gecerance Company,' advocated operations trom either Bedstead Gully or Kelly's Cr *U. The Directors of "Johnston's United Com pany' baye had ah exhaustive survev made and numerous levels taken by Mr Kocbfort, C.E., and bave determined in acting on Mr Koch fort's advice to put in a tunnel from Kelly's Creek, and Tenders are now called to diivo 400 t, when the Quartz Beefs should be first met with, this drive will also thoroughly draiu tbe ground. Jus* outside of the Southern Boundary there is an outcrop of Silver Ore, dipping towards the Company's gronnd ; this bas not been worked, although specimens assayed gave a yield of over lOOuz-} per ton of ore. Assay returns of Gaiena have given 70oz-) of Lead witb 30oz«i ot Silver. Yellow Sulphide of Copper 6ft in width and driven on for 30ft wos found in the 'Perseve ance Company's' ground; this yielded about 30 per cent of metal, and was accompanied by highly pays file Gold, apart from the known rich gold bearing quartz. The Mine is an exceptionally good property ; the failure of former panies is traceable to a very great extent to the want of experienced control over tboge working in the Mine, aud proper economy in working expenses. In inviting the Public to take Shares, the Directors assure intending investors lhat no exorbitant outlay will be made in cost of getting these Shares taken up, present holders are fully ceterroined to prosecute wo-k, and, as a guaran'ee of good faith, bave, by resolution duly recorded, agteed to withhold dealing with their Shares for at least two months. Many of tbe old workings, particularly the inclined shalt, will prove of value in the re»opening of the Mine. Applications ior Snares must be ac» companied by a deposit of Is per Share, and a further payment of Is per Sbaie will be required on allotment, and tbe balance of Is per -Share three months after date of allotment, or a discount of 2f d will be allowed to any person making full payment of tbe 3s per Share on application; the whole of tbe proceeds frcm the sale of these Shares will be expended in developing tbe Mine. Applications for Shares will not be received alter tbe 25Lh August, and ow* ing to the very low price asked, as against the known value of Ihe properly, the Directors reserve to themselves tbe right of closing list of Subscribers prior tothe2stb August. From the character of the undertaking, and its certainty of success, no doubt exists as to the profit that will ensue. Applications for Shares 10 be made to tbe Legal Manager, A. D. Bayfeild, Hardy»street, Nelson, or to Mr, Thomas Lee, Bridge-street, Beefton. The Company's financial position on the 25th July, 1881, Db. £18 13s 9d ; no other liability.
