WEALTH OF NATIONS.
\. parcel of stone from the recently opened portion of the" mine was put through the mill during the week and the result, which was 58ozs of retorted gold, is considered very satisfactory.. Continous crusbins;s may'henceforth be anticipated with good yields and larger quantities [will be treated as greater facilities now exist for increasing the output. The winding appliances lately constructed have so far proved very satisfactory the only slight drawback has been occasioned by the steel rope^whicb is being used for transmitting power, and which experience has now demonstrated to be rather light for such a long distance. A small difficulty also pre« sented itself at the outlet in splicing the rope, it being composed of three strands of an unequal number of wires in each, but all these trifling embarrassments are now being mastered under the practical and judicious supervision of Mr Watson, the general manager.
