Mr Binn has since his arrival visited the most important workings in the field, bat owing to the bad weather lately experienced, coald not finish the whole district before being called away in another direction, leavs ing part of this and the whole of the Lyell district for future inspection. The Energetic, Wealth of Nations, ITeepMt,s Dark, Nil De«perandutn, Golden Treasure, Golden Point, and the Golden Fleece, and the Welcome will form a subject for tbe first report upon which will depend the necessity or otherwise of placing these mines, or any of them under Government supervision and in* spection for the future. The report is orxjously looked for, as it is probable that under any ciicumstances some valuable suggestions will be contained therein.
