LOW LEVEL TUNNEL.
A steadily progressive headway is being made in the tunnel, and about 60 feet is now added to the length by the present contractors. The country now being traversed is hard slate of regular formation and great solidity, which has the appearance of not having been disturbed from its original position, thus confirming the assumption that all the broken country at 'this level is now passed, nnd that a solid body of quarlz might be met at any time without cans*ing any suprise. At the same time it must be admitted that it [might taken considerable amount of driving before any of tho known lodes can be expected to be reached. Such being the case the corns pany should spare no cost or trouble, but make every effort to secure, for the more speedy prosecution of the scheme, the aid of such appliances, as of late have so successfully been introduced on quarlz fields in other countries, whereby the costs of construction would be maieri-dly lessened, and the speed of progress greatly accelerated.
