Sir Stafford Nortbcote, who was Chan* eel lor of the Exchequer in the Beaconsfield administration, addressed a large meeting as^ Beverley ;jn Yorkshire to» night, in tbe course of his speech he referred at some length to existing agitation on question of amendment of English land law, and spoke; in favour of measures to re-adjust present burdens on land, and further advocated adoption of principle of compensation to tenants for improvements they make to their hold* ings.
