MURRAY CREEK.

keep.itvdaek I Satubday, November 12 During tbe week preparations have been made for timbering up the great width of tbe new reef in tbe bottom level and when this is done no time will be lost in commencing to rise on the stone from the present level towards the bottom of the winze which is sunk about 100 ft from the next level and with which cons, nection will be established after rising 50ft through the intervening untouched portion of the reef. This has recommended itself to the management as the most speedy, convenient, and satisfactory mode of procedure, in many respects preferable to sinking, as the reef is now thoroughly drained, and all appliances for raising the stone are in convenient position and perfect; order. Crushing commenced on Wednesday on stone which bad been paddocked during the crossing ot the reef, which judging from tbe highly satisfactory appearance of the whole lode, and tbe present show on the plates cannot fail to realize a very bandsome return. WEALTifoFNATION3. A considerable quantity of si one having accumulated mainly from the stopes above the Energetic bottom level, it was necessary to have it cleared off, and a crushing WBB therefore commenced dur« ing the week with the full power of the battery, and it is expected that about 200 tons will be treated in the present crush ing. The general appearance of the stone, and the show on the phtos point to probability of satisfactory results. It will be remembered that a shaft has been sunk on the boundary of the tnclepen dent and the Euergetic, reaching the depth of the bottom level of the latter company, nnd as a goo I body of payable stone yet remnined underfoot, the management have now decided to continue Ihig shaft until an additional depth of about 100 feet is attained. This being accomplished, it is intended to start a low level tunnel from the machine-site to connect the workings with the mill at an easy gradient. This tunnel is computed ti> meet the bottom of the shaft in about 1000 feet, and would be of incalculable value for opening the mine, and affording an easy transit of stone to the mill, An ippJk'jilion bns been made by the roinpany for a social chtim of 62 acres including the srvt-ral mines and lenses which from time to time have been Required in the immpdia'e vicinity. This was a very nei'cssary >tcp to secure !he

nrlvnntaffpous working of the w)«ole by concent rating Operations in the most suitable direction, clear of the several aud separate obligations, w!iich the small leases involved.
