The steamer Penguin, which ran ashore at the French Pass on Thursday, was towed off last night, and reached hero today, and was found to ha7e sustained no injury. The contract between the West Coast Railway Company, (North Island), and tbe Government has now been finally completed. The company receive the works already executed and a large concession of laud on very favorable terms. Gisborne, 18. Prise, R.M., is very ill, and it is stated that his medical advisers say he cannot under the moßfc farorable circumstances return to duty for some months. CHBisTCHrjEca, 18. No difficulty was experienced to-day in identifying tribes, nnd each of the natives when called upon came out immediately. The dispersion of natives will only last a few days longer. Tomorrow about 100 of those confined here will be sent home. It ha 9 been found necessary to handcuff Titokowaru, and also to keep him in solitary confinement owing to hie threatening manner tbe night before last, when the Nelson Volunteers were relieved by the Constabulary of their duty, and were mounting guard over the prisoners at Mount Rolleston, Titokowaru pat his head out of the wharr, and noticing rather a young man who wag doing sentry duty, remarked •• Is this tbe kind of men you bring to fight my men." November 19. The prisoners who have been confined a* Parihaka were marched to Pungarehu this morning with the exception of Kereopo, who was sent to New Ply* mouth by coach. Between 200 and 300 natives belonging to the Waimate Plains tribes were sent from the cbiup this morning under an escort of Constabulary. At 10 30 last night, the pah wns entered, and several who were not in the " ranere 1 ' to»day were taken prisoners. No further arrests had been made at 11 o'clock this morning. Oiunaki, November 19. Everything seems to have now quietened down. The draft is now still going o.i, but the life of camp is lost. The Nelson Voluuteers arrived and embarked at 4 a,m., the steamer leaving at 6. Tbe Palroerston and Fielding Volunteer* go by the steamer Uauraki, The
conduct of all has been excellent. Major Noake published an order by the direction of the Natire Minister, thanking volunteers for their services, and congratulating them on their behaviour.
