FIERY CROSS.
Daring the week a yery satisfactory crushing of 182 tons of stone for 1990z. of retorted gold, was finished. It is expected that the vertical shaft will be out of the bands of contractors by the end of next week, after which crosscutting for the main lode at this level will be commenced. A satisfactory feature in the management of this company is the circumstance that while expensive progressive works have been constructed no call upon the shareholders has been made. Occasional small crusliJnes haye kept the company in funds to liquidate all demands.
