JOCKEY CLUB MEETING.
A meeting of the Reefton Jockey Club was held at Beilby's Hotel, on Friday, the 25th instant, when there were present—Mr Twohill (chair), and Messrs Finlay, Edwards, Quigley, Beilby, Mirfin, Cbing, and Lee. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Tbe secretary stated that tenders had been called for clearing saddling pad dock, and also the ground in front of tbe grand stand, but that only one tender had been sent in. This, on being opened, proyed to be from Peter Wade for £12, and as tbe amoont was considered very reasonable, it was accepted. A letter was then read from Messrs Alexander and Fitch, the contractors for erecting the grand stand, stating that ow» ing to the delay occasioned by tbe failure of a regular supply of timber tbey could not go on with the work and wished to relinquish the contract, wbich under circumslanoes stated they could not complete in the time, to wbich they were bound. Proposed by Mr Mirfio, seconded by Mr Quigley, and carried, that fresh j tenders be invited for the erection of the ( grand stand (labor only) to close on Tuesday evening, the 29th of Novem- i ber, at 8 o'clock p.m, ' It was stated "that the contractors fo r '
the supply of timber would be ready to deliver all the timber required on the ground by Monday evening. The meeting tben adjourned.
