The men have been employed in constructing a chamber and opening out al the bottom of the 160 feet or bottom winze. The reef on being cut into exhibits a good solid body of about 3 feet ii thickness with an average show of gold Operations have been somewhat retarded owing to the difficulties in extending th< winding sear to the bottom, but this wil be overcome in a day or so, when it i; expected that everything will be in post* tion for uninterrupted progress. Th< contractors in main level have limbered up, and are now within 2 feet of the dis* tance stipulated. Some stone is showing in the face, but as yet nothing furthei can be said on the su! j*ct, until somi more work is done in this direction.
