John Vindsor, who has just died in the hospital here, was marine on board the man-of-war, which conveyed Napoleon as first prisoner to St. Helena. Oamaru. January 16. . The cricket match between the local twenty-two and the English players seems likely to resuit in a draw in favor of Englishmen. In first innings, twenty-two were all out for 55, while players had scored 127 for loss of six wickets by three p,m. to-day, Wellington, January 17. Telegrams from Sydney to the Press states that it is understood that there is no foundation for the report that Lord Loftus will succeed Governor Gordon as Governor of New Zealand.
