The agitation, which} 'for some time past has been manifested in southern Dalamatia is daily assuming a more serious aspect and inhabitanfs are rising to arms against Austria ; at several points the agitation has now extended into Herzegovina, and on account of the attitude of the inhabitants, troops have been despatched by the Austrian Government to reinforce troops recently despatched to Dalmatia. London, January 17. The Times to-day states that Gambetta . and Viscount Lyons, British Representative at Paris, are now conferring on the subject of negotiatiods for the renewal of the English and French Commercial Treaty, and that there are hopeful signs that an understanding may yet be arrived at between the two countries. Tunis, January 17. Sino Elie, heir presumptive to the throne, has been arrested here for conspiracy against his brother Mahomet Elsador, Bey of Tunis. Melbourne, January 18. News to hand from the quarantine station states, that it is feared another death from small-pox will shortly occur.
