The general monthly cleaning up at the company's battery will take place on Saturday. The returns will show a slight improvement upon last month's operations but are still much below the average This is owing to the very large face of stone in the north end of the mme — viz., upwards of 30 ft — and the gold being distributed over so large a block in small quantity must necessarily tend to reduce the average yield, having also in view the heavy working expenses, as compared with a reef of smaller dimensions.
