UNITED INGLEWOOD AND NORTH STAR.

The ordinary half-yearly meeting of shareholders in this company was held on Tuesday last, when the question of resuming operations at the very earliest date was amply discussed and agreed upon. Since the company itself has worked the mine it has been let on tribute to two diffeient parties, these being unsuccessful, for want of a systematic and efficient mode of working, and not from absence of payable stone, which, in former times, had been already tried and found fairly remunerative,, if they (the 'tributes) relin--quished their contract, and as this happened during a time when the whole district was in a state of great depression, the company made application and obtained protection ior the ground for twelve months. This is now about expired and, as above stated, operations will again be resumed in this mine. Previous to this however, the whole of the Aim and* workings a^e 1 to surveyed, and the proper bearings of the lode ascertained. Mr Gardner has, received instructions to perform this and he will, in a day or two, proceed to carry out hisjinstruqtions. Messrs Jajmes Connolly, Charles Macquarrie, R. Woodhouse, W. Cummings, and W. G. Collings were elected Directors, and Mr Faler was appointed Auditor for the ensuing six months.
