UNITED ITALY.
Arrangements for registering this company under the Mining Companies Act are almost completed, and an extraordinary meeting will shortly be held for the purpose of electing directors, adopting rules, &c. The company will commence operations upon a decidedly more favourable basis than many new ventures already before the public, as the mine has the advantage of being proven to a very considerable extent. On the south side of the creek several levels are driven upon Wghiy payable headers, while, apart from this, numerous payable runs of stone not yet prospected are known to exist almost all over the lease. Then again, there is the new reef recently opened on the northern side of the creek, from which some splendid prospects have been obtained. This body of stone is several feet in thickness, ,and will be very easily worked. The company have a small battery upon the ground, but the stampers are too light to be of much use to a large company, aa they would reduce but a small quantity of quartz, and this at a very indifferent rate. No doubt, upon the resources of the mine being more fully developed, the company will erect heavier crushing power.
