Great excitement has been raised on account of a police circular which, it has transpired, has been recently issued by the Irish Executive, notifying that escorts arid magistrates will be held blameless if, having good reason to suspect that an attack is to be made upon them, they should shoot persons that may be innocent of crime. The subject was brought up in the House of Com-* 1 mons last night, and Mr Forster acknowledged that the circular had been issued and admitted that the action of the Executive was indiscreet During the ensuing debate Mr Redmond, the member for New Boss, made a violent attack on Government* and refusing to be called to order, was suspended for alluding to Forster in vilifying language. Charles Darwin, Naturalist and Fhilospher, the author of the celebrated work " Origin of Species " and several other celebrated works, died yesterday, aged 73. Calcutta, April 21. Telegrams received from Burmah report that King Theebau has caused his Queen and fifty-two notables to be , put to death. No details of the mass- 1 acre are yet to hand. Sydney, April 21, Haynes and Archibald, defendants in the recent libel case againt the Bulletin, were released to-day from custody payment of costs having been guaranteed.
