No. 2 ALPINE.

This company recently commenced prospecting on their lease, and last week a small run of stone was met with towards the south-eastern boundary. It has been trenched 80 feet, and averages about 8 inches in thickness, carrying a little gold. It runs N.E. and S.W., and underlies to the north. It is intended, after opening it out a little, to sink a winze some distance, with the view of proving the permanency of the find. The reef met with in the No. 6 level of the United Alpine Company, and within the boundaries of the No. 2 Alpine, proves to be only about seven inches in thickness, and does not carry gold as yet It runs about north and south, dipping west No importance can at present be attached to the find.
