During the past week there has been a marked improvement in the quality of the quartz coming out of this mine and the week's return should be ft good deal above the average of the last few months. The stone is being broken from both the north and south stapes, but that from the north end is much the richer. The air in the northern _
part of the mine is bad, and cannot improve until a connection is made Between No, 5 level and the upper workings. This interferes greatly with the ontput of quartz, and the supply for the battery is consequently occasionally rather short At No. 6* level the contractors are making fair headway, the distance driven being about 240 feet
