A band of 200 of the latter, while engaged in wrecking a homestead near Listowel, County Kerry, were attacked and fired upon by the police. Fifteen of them were wounded and captured. April 22. Parnell has started on his return to England. The Garonne has arrived with a cargo of frozen meat in splendid condition. Darwin's funeral took place on Wednesday. The Government intend reducing tKestrengTJlTof the riat^e tfoops in the Imperial service in India. Laycock has arrived in England. Trickett and Hanlan are both reported to be in excellent form. The race is almost regarded as a certainty for Hanlan. An insurrection has broken out in Haytl Deep sea fishery proves a complete failure this season, causing great dis- 1 tress among the fisher folks. The reported loss, in the Chinese sea, of the U.S. frigate Richmond, proves to be unfounded. The convict Arthur Orton has been permitted an interview with the supposed Orton discovered in the Parramatta Lunatic Asylum. It is alleged he is the claimant's brother. Twelve thousand Jews are now journeying from Russia to A merica. Nihilist panics have now closed the Moscow Theatre General. Melikoff is advising vigorous measures for suppress ing Nihilism. A sudden swoop was expected to be made on the Hatton Garden Post Office burglars who have been arrested at Berlin, and the Diamonds are being recovered. The burglars were proceeding to Russia. Ottawa, April 21. The Dominion House of Commons has voted an address to the Queen praying that Her Majesty will grant an autonomous Constitution to Ireland similar to that now enjoyed by Canada. The address further asks that those persons now imprisoned in Irelard for political offences should be pardoned.
