UNITED ITALY.

Work was commenced at this claim on Monday. The manager, Mr Wright, has commenced a prospecting tunnel to open up the new reef on the north side of the Eight-Mile Creek. This reef has been broken out. It is the intention to lay a short tramway from the site of the above tunnel to the company's paddock, in order to store the stone coming to grass, and the manager is now making a survey of the line. Another body of quartz about four feet in thickness has been revealed on the south side of the creek. It is said to .carry a good prospect of the precious metal.
