(PHOM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENTS.) Alexandra, May 11. The Native settlement wore a very animated appearance this morning. The southern tribes advanced from the encampment in holiday attire, headed with flags. Nothing important transpired. Auckland, May 11. Experiments in tea culture, made under the auspices of the Acclimatisation Society, have proved very successful, an excellent infusion having been obtained. The plant grows luxuriantly in ordinary soil in Auckland. "Wellington, May 11. It is stated to be the intention of Mr Pilliett, the elected but unseated member for Stanmore, to insist on taking the oath and his seat in Parliament on the session being opened. Several legal gentlemen of high standing have advised this course on the ground tha.t if he takes the oath prior to the election of Speaker, that the subsequent reporting to the Speaker of the Judge's decision unseating him, will not have the effect of unseating him. Csristchtjrch, May 11. In the first list, awards have been issued by the committee of judges, and the awards having been revised on Tuesday night, the jury report on sections 10, 8, 14, and 19- If no protests are entered they will be confirmed in their present form. The Westland Commissioners have entered a protest against a section of the Exhibition jurors, in refusing to judge exhibits not in the commissioners catalogue, the exhibit being a tine gas retort made from Brunnerton fire clay, which through accidentally omitted from the catalogue, jurors refuse to report upon.
A noble Frenchwoman says she has beautiful hands because ten generations have passed since any of her ancestors soiled their fingers. The Toronto Mail says that the appearance of a pet dog with earrings created a decided sensation (probably of disgust) among the promenadcrs on a fashionable street in that city.
