MINE CONTRACTS.
: : ♦ : TO THB EDITOR INANGAHUA TIMES. Sir. — I see by your issue of the 21st instant that Kincaid, M'Queen and Co., have secured the contract for machinery to the Phoenix and Inglewood Companies, for the sum of £1,420. Our tender was £1,365, without foundations, or tables, as the directors agreed to find these themselves. In our absence the directors have let the contract to these Dunedin people, without asking us a price for foundations or tables, which would have been less than they have agreed to pay. In justice to ourselves will you allow this letter to appear in your journal, as our many shareholders in Roefton are naturally incensed at the seeming incapability of this foundry, ' although they are aware that they have provided fix batteries for tho Reefton district, all at the lowest tender, and all giving the greatest satisfaction. Youi-, &c.,-*mi (For the Despatch Co., Ltd.) William Kae, Secretaiy. Greymouth, August, 1882.
