« (FROM OUR. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ) Alkxaxdria, September 6. It is expected that a genera] movement forward will be made by the troops under Sir Garnet Wolseley on Saturday, the 9th instant. The murderers of the late Messrs Dobson and Richardson, who were killed during the massacre in the city in June last, have been identified, and wore publicly hanged to-day. Order has now been completely restored in the neighborhood of Rainleh. September 8. News is to hand that the detachment of Knglish cavalry left to-day for Kassassin, and advanced within a mile of Tel-el-Kebir. The enemy's position.was re-connoitred and sketched, and the cavalry then retired, no opposition being met ■with. London, September 0. The match between the Australians and thu County of Nottingham was continued, and attractsd a very large nuinbbr of spectators. The Australians were in great form, and in their second innings scored '212, leaving the Notts men 2,"3 runs to gut in order to achieve a victory. This they failed to do by a long way, and only succeeded, thanks to the admirable bowling of the Australians, in making a

Sailed — This morning, the Union Company's Wairarapa, for New Zealand. Sydney, September 8. The Roman Catholic Cathedral was opened to-day with great ceremony. ' A large number of persons were present including many dignitaries of the Church. The service was performed by Archbishop Vaughan, assisted by the Bishops of Bathurst, Brisbane, Ttockhampton, Maitland, Goulburh", Wellington, and Armidale, and was vendered with a most imposing and beautiful effect, by a choir of fully 200 voices. The altar, which is of Oainaru stone, was the theme of general admiration. A new comet, with a well-defined nucleus, equal in brilliancy to a star of the second magnitude, is now visible in the eastern sky, the tail extending over an arc of three degrees. The apparent motion of the comet is slow, and towards the north and east. September 9. The sermon at the opening of St. Mary's Cathedral yesterday was preached by Bishop Redwood of Wellington, New Zealand.
