'I he Premier and the Colonial Secretary leave by the Stella this evening, for the Manakau and Taranaki. It is Mr Dick's intention to make a general tour of inspection in the South Island, to that in the N arth from which he has recently returned. That is to say, he will personally inspect the condition and management of the hospitals and industrial schools, and lunatic asylums. Prisons now come, of course, under the jurisdiction of Mr Conolly, as Minister of Justice.
