GLOBE.
Application has been made by this company for a water-right of 100 heads, from the Inangahua river. The matter came on formally at ths last sifting of the Warden's Court lu-ro, but waa adjourned at the request of Mr Ilindmarsh, the manager. The Keep-it- Dark Company, who have a right to lift water from the river, appeared to object to the granting of the application, on the ground that it uiiu'it inteifere with their registered l'iyht. The natiife of the objection was ih*t although there was abundance of wijtv r flv.viig down the river, the taking i«f s ! u-?h "i volume as 100 heads, rmght in a dry season, so reduce the» level of the Htmnn as to interfere with the Dark Company's supply. The Warden said ti;at thu Dark Com; any, Vein^ the prior occupants, could, of course, insist upon
' the number of heads for which they were 1 registered being allowed to flow down the river, but Ue was doubtful whether they ! could insist upon more than this. It was urged upon behalf of the Keep-it-Dark that all possibility of a failing supply could be removed' by the erection of a dam. After some further discussion the matter was adjourned to enable the Globe Company to specifically set out the course of the race.
