Next week this company will be in a position to carry on operations more satisfactorily, the directors having engaged a number of miners from the Thames. The men are expected to arrive via Nelson to-morrow or Sunday. At present about 12 or 15 men are employed in tbe stopes, principally in No. 4 level. The shoot and paddock to connect this level with No. 5 level tramway are approaching completion ; the iron railway between the shoot and the mouth of the level is ready for ballasting, and the finishing strokes are being given to the balance of the work necessary to complete the job. The battery is kept going as regularly as circumstances will permit
