STRIKING OF THE REEF IN THE CRCESUS NO. 2 LEVEL.
The gratifying intelligence reached town last evening that the reef had been struck in the cross-cut from No. 2 level at a distance of 30 feet. The stone shows a thickness of about a foot, and carries payable gold. The manager will at once proceed to open upon the lode. — The lower logs comprising the foundation of the dam about being constructed in the Lyell Creek were laid this Week, and the superstructure can now be proceeded with at leisure.
