MINING NEWS.
[From our Minikg Reportee.] Satukimy, March 3. The depression in mining matters still continues, and the only business current is in reproductive ventures. The defect discovered in the Golden Point machinery has proved very annoying to everyone concerned. It is now generally admitted that whatever the defect is it is of a nature that will require some time to correct. In the meantime the payableness of the stone has been established, and this fact will enable shareholders to boar up with the delay with equanimity. The Oriental battery has now got fairly to work and its name- will doubtless figure in the future battery, returns with the regularity of the Dark and Welcome. Tho Golden Treasure company will shortly bo in full swing, the winding wheel being all but ready for work, and the resumption of operations by this mine will no doubt be followed by activity in many of the mines in the neighborhood. f or the past week :- — Kbep-it-Dark.— 3090z, of amalgam, from 170 tons of stono. Welcome.— 26Boz. amalgam, from 90 tons of stone. Oriental.— 7soz. amalgam, from 45 tons of stone. 1 1
