THE WEEK.
S£tuRDA.Y, April 28. A much improved, tone has been prevalent in the share market during the past week, and a fair amount of business has been done in several lines. The announcement early in the week of the striking of a splendid body of stone by the United Ingtewood Qora? pany had the effect of causing an active demand for the shards, which speedly i rose to 4s, at which figure they con. tinued very firm. Welcomes are also on the rise, latest quotations placing them at £5 7s ■ 6d, with few sellers locally. . Globes have received sonic attention during the week their closing price being 6b. The election no doubt draws local attention a good deal away from mining matters, and we do not think therefore that any great I briskness can be expected until after the polling is over. .< . >. The following are the battery returns for the past week : — Keep-it-Dahk. — 5230za. of amalgam from 198 tons of stone. Welcome. — 3090z5. of amalgam from 90 tons of stone. /,;.-. ; .-;,.-'
