. Friday, June 8. Great energy is being manifested in the opening up of this mine, and the whole of the outside works, as well as those within the mine, are in a very forward state. No 2 level — The reef has been driven on up to the present, since striking it 118 feet, averaging from 1 to 2 feet in thickness, and the gold improving as the level is extended northwards. Battery — Work is advancing rapidlj, and contractors expect to complete' Jby the end of the present month. Head-Race — Will most likely be completed first week in Jnly, weather permitting."
