The Welcome Company's returns for the past week were 3090z5. of amalgam from 90 tons of stone.
la our mining report on Monday last it wag stated that the Government had agreed to subsidise the Inangahua Low Lerel Tunnel £ for £up to L 1250. . The figures should have been L 2250, that being the amount agreed upon.
The tender of Messrs D L. &W. Cochrane, for the supply of timber required for the. construction of quartz paddocks for the Just-in-Time and Imperial Companies, was accepted by the directors last night.
The Magistrate's Court was occupied the whole of the day yesterday with the case of Cum Yen v. Cox. The evidence was very lengthy, and will be found reported in our columns. The business of the Court was not completed, and will be resumed this morning.
Mr Thornton, as agent for Messrs J. and A. Anderson, of the Canterbury Foundry, ( 'hristchureh, has, with the concurrence of the Company, accepted the tender of Mr H. Mitchell, carrier, for the conveyance of the Inkerman Company's machinery from Greymouth to the machine site. The machinery is expected to be landed n Greymouth in about six weeks, and the
delivery has to be effected as soon as possible thereafter. The price is LlO per ton for the through freight.
