The latest accounts of the catastrophe at Sunderland state that 190 children lost their lives, their ages being from four to fourteen years. It has been ascertained that the disaster was caused by the closing of a swing door leading from the building. Telegrams have been received here reporting that the natives have butchered the whole staff of the North Borneo Trading Company stationed on that Island. It is rumored that O'Shanghnesay, M.P. for Limerick, has been appointed to the vacant Governorship of Queensland. Per Merchants' Shipping and Underwriters' Association : — Arrived — Ships- Ttitoner from T Napier; 44th February; Firth of Forth, 14th March; Westland, from Port Chalmers, 26th March; Gurlu, from Lyttelton, 24th March. (Eeceived June 19, 7 p.m.) London, 18. The report that Eichard O'Shanghnesay has been appointed Governor of Queensland has not received any official confirmation. Capetown, 18. Intelligence is to hand of further difficulty between the Transvaal Boers and Border tribes. A telegram has been received stating that the Usuta natives made a successful incursion in force into the Transvaal territory, carrying off a large number of cattle. (Eeceived June 19, 1 a.m.) Sydney, 19. It is understood that Sir Henry Parkes leaves Sydney by the P.M.S. Australia on the 12th July, for America, where he will remain some time before proceeding to England, and that he will be absent from the Colony about eighteen months. It is understood that Sir Henry's visit to England is on account of private affairs. • Eeceived June 19, 1 p.m. » Melbourne, 19. Mauritius advices to the 2nd inst. report the following clearances of sugar cargoes to New Zealand ports : Dunedin, 250 tons; Lyttelton, 310 tons. . . _^ The Argus publishes the forecast of the Ministerial measures for the approaching session. These are stated to include a Bill for the appointment of three Commissiers for the Manage* ment of Eailways, and a Bill to abolish official patronage on public departments. The Argus states that party questions will be avoided by the Government Service, the Premier, has received a telegram from the Government of New Zealand, intimating the latter's intention to test in Parliament the question of sharing with other colonies the expenses of the annexation of the New Hebridies and other Groups in the Pacific Albany, 19. Arrived, at King George's Sound last evening, P. and 0. Company's steamship Siam, with the inward Suez mail, which left London on the 18th May.
