+ The following is a verbatim report of a speech in giving the toast of " The Queen" at a recent agricultural show dinner in Scotland. , The Chairman began : — Now, gentlemen will ye a' fill your glasses, for I'm aboot ta bring forward ' The Queen.' (Applause). Oor Queen, gentlemen, is really a wonderfu' woman, if I may say it; she's one o' the quid auld sort, nae whigmaleeries or falderals aboot her, but a douce daeo.ent body. She's reospectable beyound a' doobt. She has brought up a grand family o' weel-faured lads an' lassies ; her auldest son being a creedit to ony mither, and they're a' weel uiarriet. One dochter is nae less than married to the Duke o' Argyll's son and heir. (Cheers). Gentlemen, yell may be no' believe it, but I once saw the Queen. (Sensation). I did. It was when I took my auld brown cow tae Perth Show. I remember her weel ; such colour, such hair, such horns, and such a milk vessel. (Interruption, and cries of, 'Is it the cow or the Queen ye are proposing) V The Queen, gentlemen ; I beg yer parrdon, but I was takin' aboot the cow. However, as to the Queen, somebidy pointed her oot ta me at Perth station, and there she was, smart and tidy like, and says 1 to mysel' 'Gin my auld woman at hame slips awa' ye need na' remain .anither hoor longer. 1 (Cheers). Now gentlemen, the whisky's quid, the night to long, the weather is wet, and the roads are soft and will harrrn naebody that comes to grief. So offwi-yer drinks ta the buttora * The Queen.' (Cheers).
