CROESUS.
Friday, July 13. ' This mine is just now the centre of attraction, jbeing about to commence operations. A large amount of capital has been expended in opening out and proving the reef, and next week the new crushing' plant will be brought to bear upon the large parcel of quartz to grass. Some of the stone bears an exceptionally rich appearance, whilst the general average is such as to leave but little doujtffc that the shareholders will be substantially rewarded for their outlay. . It was expected that the stampers would -be set in motion for the first time early on Monday morning, but a slip on the new headrace will cause a delay of perhaps two or three days^. It may be fully expected, however, allowing for the usual delays in connection with starting new machinery, that everything will be in full swing by the end of next week.
