WARDEN'S COURT.

(Before Mr Warden Revell.) •Tuesday, July 31st, 1833. Applications. G. J. Smith — water-race, under 31st section of the Mines Act and situated, on Stony Creek, GrejToad. Recommended. Phoenix Extended Company —two acres of land at Deep Crook for machine situ. Adjourned for survey. Jas. Cochrane — suction No. 10G3, township of Black's Point. Granted. Michael Twohill — tramway from end of Welcome No. 6 level, and terminating at the Gorge, Capleston. The tramway would pass over the Welcome machine site, and waa to become the property of the company at the expiration of one year. The Warden said he had no power to grant a tramway right over occupied ground, applicant would have t<> enter into an agreement with the Welcome Company. Application refused. Edward Bugh— section 24(5, town of Reef ton G ranted. Inkerman Quartz Mining Co. — waterrace from Rainy Creek, and terminating j it the baUjry. Granted.

The applications were opposed by alluvial miners working in the neighborhood, on the ground that the granting of the leases would lock up all the alluvial ground. Applications adjourned till next courtday, and in the meanti.'ie written objections to be served upon the parties. Wm. Thompson — for the Vanguard Company, mining lease. : ecormnended. G. Wise for the Golden Hope Company, mining lease (two leaaes). Recommended. D. M'Gee — 100 acres ground-sJuicing area, Merrijigs. Mr Jones appeared for the applicant, and said that the ground was situated nnriy miles from Reefton, and away from all workings.. The area appeared large, i but it would be necessary to bring in a wateivrace to work it, which would cost £7000. The Warden granted the application, subject to survey, the rent to be 10/- per acre per annum. The same applicant also applied for five acres additional in the same locality. • djourned for survey.
