RESIDENT MAGISTRATES COURT.
(Before W. H. Revell, Esq.) Tuesday, July 31st, 1883. Trustees of W. J. Shaw v. C. Rhodes. Claim for 10/- for goods supplied. Judgment for the amount claimed and 7/costs. Mr Jones for plaintiff. McGafftn v. W. B. Arches. This was a claim for L 75 on a dishonoured acceptance.* Plaintiff was called and said that L 35 of the amount had been paid, and the balance was still owing. The bill was accepted by defendant whose signature it bore. Witness discounted tlv bill giving a cheque for the amount. R. Reeves who was the holder of the bill at the time wanted witness to endorse it, but this he refused to do, as the bauk would not discount it. Gave a cheque for the amount. Defendant had since told witness that a portion of the bill was an accommodation to himself. Mr Lynch said he had been requested to appear in the case, but defendant had not since communicated with him or given any instructions. He had telegraphed to him to Boatman's that-morn-ing, but received no reply. Judgment by default for the amount claimed, with 35/- coats and Lo 3s professional fee, in all L45 6s 7d. Mr Jones for plaintiff. A/KEft V. ANDERSON. Claim for L 2 6s, for goods supplied. Judgment for the amount with costs. Mr Lynch for defendant. The Court then adjourned.
