PARLIAMENT.
Wellington, 25. In the House yesterday afternoon ,six new Bills were, introduced, viz. — The Civil List Act Amendment Bill (Mr Conolly), thie. Special Powers and Contracts Bill Mr Rolleston), Road Boards Amendment, Roads and Bridges Construction Amendment, Rating Act Amendment, and Town Districts Amendment Bills (Major j Atkinson. The House then proceeded to discuss the breach of privilege which it had decided on the previous day had been committed by the Post. The House afterwards went into Committee on the following Bills: — Native Lands Laws Amendment Bill, Native Committees Bill, West Coast Settlement Reserves Amendment Bill, Volunteer Amendment Bill, Auckland Hospital Reserves Bill, Kawhia Township Sale Bill, and Counties Act Amendment BilL In Committee the Native Land Laws Amendment Bill discussion was resumed. Mr Bryce proposed a new clause providing that the procedure regarding the removal of restrictions on Native lands should devolve on the Chief Judge, instead of the Native Minister. The clause was rejected by 87 to 28, whereuppn the new clauses' were abandoned, and the Bill was subsequently reported, and passed in the form which it had been previously amended. Other Bills passed without important amendment, and the Counties Act Amendment Bill was under consideration when the House rose at 12-45 a.m. A long discussion took place at the afternoon sessidfe on a question of breach of privilege on the part of the proprietors of the Evening Post, in publishing what purported to be a report of the Dargayille Committee proceedings. The proprietors of the paper had been ordered to appear at the bar of the House, but the order was eventually discharged,
