Work is going ahead steadily, and the character of the country continues promising. In accordance with an arrangement just concluded with the Mines Department the course of the tunnel is now being altered slightly, so as to cut the strata at, as nearly as possible, a right angle. The course will not, hoUrever, carry the tunnel out of the reserved area of the Company, which is now being,laid off as a special claim. This latter step was necessary to give the Company a perfect titlevto the ground.! ;■>■,] ■ ; ;:U
