AHAURA.
I • v j (FROM A CORRESPONDENT). . The opening of the seasons raceing took ? place on the Ahaura race course on '. Thursday, 25th, between Mr D. Donald's ' Plough Boy, and Mr Babbot's Gipsey, ' for £10 a-side, one mile and a quarter 1 Both horses go£ away well together, but the Plough Roy took the lead, which he
maintained hard held, to the finish, the whip going on the (iipsey from the start. The well-known sport Cahill, rode Plough Boy, at l(fct lilt, and Master Freeth rudit Gipsey at ftst llft>. Cahill has the Plough Boy in training, and I think he will be » hard nut to crack at the forthcoming meetings, as tbe owner intends- to rum bins* for some of the big: events. There seemed to- be- great interest taken in the race by the large attendance on the course. The betting was two to one on Plough Boy. Cahill has a good string of horses this season, and they tdl seenP tobe doing well at present. He has a grand looking filly, Misfortune^ which will take a lot of beating, should she come out right.
