Mails for the A ustralian Colonea only, via Russell per Te Anau, close at Auckland on Wednesday 28th, at*4 p.m. Mails for Honolulu, America, and United Kingdom close at Auckland, per Zealandia, on Tuesday, 11th December, at 11 a.m. We publish this morning the Phosnix Novelty Company's programme on the Christchurch and Auckland races. The consultations of this company are thoroughly sound, the names of the promoters having been before the public in this capacity for years. It will be noticed that Mr W.H. Hobby and Mr H. Little have entered into partnership as civil and mechanical engineers, and authorised and licensed raining surveyors. Both gentlemen have had considerable experience in the field, and the class of work required by mining companies. The sitting of the District Court only occupied a few hours on Monday last, »nd the business was completed by 3 p,m. Besides the cases reported elsewhere in our columns, winding up orders were granted in the matter of the Lankey's Creek Cement Company, (Reefton), and Ballarat Quartz Mining Company (Lyell), and meetings of creditors in each ordered for 19th proximo. The ceremony of consecrating and dedicating the new Bobert Burns (Masonic) Lodge, S.C.. and installing the officers, took place on Monday afternoon last in the presence of a large assemblage of the brethren from all parts of the district. The ceremony' was performed by P.M. Pro. Michel, D.GS., assisted by P.M.s Bros. Budge arid Dick, after which some twenty-seven candidates were initiated into the mysteries of the craft. The following officers were installed : -P.M Bro Budge, R.WM., Bro Beeche, Deputy Master, Bro Irvine, Substitute Mas'er, P.M. Bro Dick, S.W., BroTittley. J.W., Bro Young, S.P., Bro Hufton, J.D., Bro Dawson, Treasurer, Bro James, Secretary, Bro Ritchie, 1.G., Bro Williams, Tyler. In the evening a banquet was held at Dawson's Hotel, when there was a large gathering, and a very pleasant evening was speut.
