Francis, who has been seriously ill for ■ SQme days past, and whose condition on Saturday last was considered .critical, is now improving in health. Madrid, 25. Prince Frederick William of Germany, who arrived here yesterday on a visit to King Alfonso, will remain in this country for three weeks. London, 26. Telegrams have reached here from Madagascar stating that active hostilities have been resumed by the French fleet under Admiral Jolliler. Nohamar, a Coast town, has been bombarded by the French war ships, the principal buildings being ruined, and a number of persons, among whom were five British subjects, have been killed. The attack was carried on with great severity, and the town was shelled for several hours. A large amount of property owned by neutral Natives, as well as by Hovas, has been destroyed. (Received Nov. 27, 1.15 a.m.) Melbourne, 26. .Arrived: Rome, s.s., with the inward mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, October 19. The following delegates to the An nexation Conference left here to-night by special train for Sydney as representatives for Victoria: — Hon. Jas. Service, Hon. Graham Bei-ry, and Hon. J. B. Kerford. South Australia : Hon. J. C. Bray, Hon. J. W. Dowries. Western Australia: Hon. M. Fx'aser. Tasmania : Hon. W, R. Giblin, Hon. N. P. Brown. New Zealand : Son. F. Whitaker, and Hon. H. A.Atkinson. Sydney, 26. The five French escapees from New Caledonia, coming to Sydney in a schooner which they had seized, suffered privation on the voyage from Noumea. Two others, who started with them, died before making land. Received Nov. 27, 1-30 p.m. i Cairo, 26. Intelligence is to hand from Khartoum, a large town in Upper Nubia, that Wahdi, with a great following, is now in close proximity to that place, and stopped all supplies from entering. Jt is feared that the rebels are about to attack the town, and the population, numbering nearly 50,000, are panicstricken, hundreds having already fled from their homes.
