REEFTON HOSPITAL.

The Committee of Managements report FOR THE YEAR ENDED MABCH 31st, 1884, PRESENTED TO THE Suß SCRIBERS ON WEDNESDAY, APRHi 2ND 1884. Gentlemen, — In presenting the Twelfth Annual Beport to the subscribers of the Reefton Hospital we have much pleasure in stating that the financial position of the institution is very satisfactory, notwithstanding the limited amount of support given by the miners, who, as a rule, are most benefited by its advantages, and the great depression existing in the district. The financial statement of receipts and expenditure, and the Surgeon Superintendent's statistical report, are appended. The fund at our disposal on taking office was £194 2s 2d, and we are glad to state that after payment of the March accounts, and the receipt of Government subsidy for last quarter, there will be a credit balance of £211 18s 8d for our successors to commence with. Subscriptions and donations received during the year amounted to £352 9s 3d ; this was supplemented by Hospital Sunday Collections, £25 17s 3d ; Reefton Amateurs, £80 7s 6d ; Black's Point entertainment, £48 Os 6d ; Carnival at Smith's Paddock, £60; and Fisher's Troupe, £4 11s Od, making a substantial total of £516 6s 6d, on which Government subsidy of £ for £ was claimed. The institution is in first rate order and very little outlay will be required to keep the buildings and ground in good condition. Dr Grabham, Inspector of Hospitals, made his annual visit of inspection in October last, and was pleased to find suggestions made on his previous visit had been carried out, and spoke very favourably of the institution, and its internal management. The supplies received from the various contractors are reported to have been of good quality and satisfactorily delivered. Arrangements have been made for the appointment of a local committee at Boatman's, consisting of five members, one member of the same will be eligible to attend and take part in all central committee meetings. Your committee are glad to announce that the internal management of the Hospital during the year has been excellent, and have to express their entire satisfaction with the manner in which Dr. Thorpe, the Surgeon Superintendent, Mr Preshaw, Stewart, and Dispenser, and Mrs Preshaw, the Matron, have carried out their duties.
