UNITED ALPINE.

Fhiday, May 16. ! The tributers had a cleaning-up on 'on uesday last, and from the quantity of quartz put through the mill, viz, 250 tons, 414 ounces of amalgam were obtained. This was taken from the plates, berdans, and two of the boxes, the two of which the trihuters retain the ' use of, not having been touched. This return is a highly satisfactory one both for the credit of the mine and the propects of the tributers themselves, who j have kept pluckily at their undertaking. They have about 100 tons broken out, and expect to be sending down stone I for some time to co<ne. On Thursday morning the battery was again started with 10 heads each going for the tributers and the Company, an arrangement which, it is hoped, will facilitate both i parties operations, and land to speedly develop the resources of the mine. — ' No. 6 level — Still driving ahead in ' north end and where th« change took i place last week. The stone has thickened a little since last visit, and there is an apparently new make just . coming in near th« footwall, the track giving out a lot of water. The country alongside rennins the same as before — Stopes — Stone is being sent to the ■ mill from the leading stope, and the new one (No. 3). All three faces here show a splendid massive reef, the width in No. 3 being quite equal to that just above the level. Some very necessary building additions have been recently made by the Company at the mouth of this level. They include , mine manager's residence, magazine, and workmen's changing room.
