INAGAHUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Council was held at the Clianfbers on Wednesday | evening last. Present : The Chairman and Messrs Patterson, Craig. Feelian, and Williams. The only business was the adoption of the annual balance sheet, which was duly carried, and the meeting lapsed. The ordinary monthly meeting was their held. • Coruespo oence. From the Under-Secretary of Public Works forwarding subsidy for Black's Point road, also for Larry's creek track. From Robert Rowe acknowledging receipt of letter from the Chairman. From Under-- Secretary re road proposed to be, taken through Overend's lease, also with regard to road through Lyneh's lease. From Grey County, Council forwarding cheque for £265 on account of tolls. From the manager of the Colonial bank re County account. From Roxborough and ' otman forcompensation for keeping road in repair. Resolved on the motion of Mr Patterson that the application of Roxborough and N otman be referred to the engineer to report to the next meeting. From John Crvanagh asking for the sum of £1 5s per week assoxton. Resolved on the motion of Mr Patterson that the application be referred to the { cemetery trustees. From Dougal-l Mathuxon requesting the formation of a voh.J near his claim. Matter • rofvrr?-! t> Engineer to report .as soon as possible. From Mrs Green, applyingfuroharilable aid. Resolved on the motion of the ChairI man that the application W; not entertained. From Alfred Smith applying for a years subsidy in advance, the cost of contruotiug punt being iv excess of amount anticipated. Resolvud on the motion of Mr Patterson, seconded by the Chairman that the application be not granted. Resolved on the motion of Mr Craig that the subsidy be paid quarterly as it becomes due. From Charles I'ownie re travelling expenses in connection with Licensing Committee at Hampden. I Application not entertained. i From Gallagher Bros, re their claim for compensation. 1 Eesolved on fhe motion of Mr Williams that Messrs Gallagher Bros, be referred to i their agreement dated 15th May, 1878. 1 From Neil M'Conochie asking to have ! the name of Hill Hamilton removed from Crushington roll. Resolved that the name he removed on production of the deed of the property. From John Batt and James Rillet requesting that their names be placed on j the Boatman's roll. ( ! Resolved that the applications be ■ granted upon production of the necessary i 'deeds. t From Robert M'Neill, requesting the removal of George Moonlight's name from Hampden roll in respect of section 68, and the substitution of his own. Resolved that applicant having failed to produce the Crown grant, the applica tiou be refused. From John Quigley requesting the removal of Patrick Monaghan's name from the Reefton roll in respect of section 673, and the substitution of his own. Resolved that the application be complied with. From John Rait requesting the removal of George Moonlight's name from the I Hampden roll in respect of sections 36, i 33, 74, 75, 79, 80, 14, and 27, and the substitution of his own. Resolved that as Mr Frank Hamilton certifies to the correctness of the claim it be granted. Resolved on the motion of the Chairman that the name of Charles Adams be inserted on the Murray roll in lieu of that of Sarah Stockings. From Under-Secretary re diamond drill and suggesting that the sale of the drill j should be advertised in the Government i Gazette. : Resolved on the motion of Mr Patterson j that tenders be invited in the Government ; Gazette for the sale of the drill. Engineers report read. i Resolved on the motion of Mr Craig j that the suggestion of the Engineer re i Gradys track be carried out. Resolved on the motion of ]Ur Williams j | that the amount recommended by the i engineer be paid Alexander Peters, in full ' satisfaction for past and future damages j to his water-race, and also to use his race i for horse traffic. I Resolved on eh« motion of the Chairman, that tenders be invited for the mantenanue <>f the main Grey road, from li'eefton to the Comity boundary, to close on ihe 11th June, and that such tenders < !be dealt with by the Executive Committee. Resolved on the motion of Mr Williams, that in the event of the Grey County Council charging, a license fee on waggons or drays plying between Greymouth ami Reefton, that this Council will charge a greater amount than that charged by the Grey County for such drays or waggons, and that a bye-law be made and approved of by the Council in accordance with the Counties Act, should the Grey County insist in charging such fees. Seconded by Mr Craig. Resolved on the motion of the Chairman, that the scale of tolls to be charged at Smith's punt at Murchison, be the same as those charged' at * roller's ferry at the Landing, and hat such scale be publicly notified. Resolved on the motion of the Chairman, that in the event of the Grey Council insis-t'ng in imposing tolls on the Grey road, that this County abolish the tolls at the Tnangahua Landing, and pay the ferryman an equivalent to his former receipts. Resolved on the motion of Mr Craig, that tenders to close on 11th June be invited for the maintenance for twelve months, of the Murray reek and ankey's Creek road. Resolved on the motion of Mr Patterson,'that the County Chairman proceed to Wellington, to interview the Government on County matters. j Resolved on the motion of Mr Feehan, that tenders, to close on the llth June, be invited for the maintenance of the short track to Boatman's, track from Capleston to the Eureka mine, and Capleston to Specimen Hill mine, for a period of twelve months. Resolved on the motion of Mr Craig, that the engineer report upon the cost of a track from the Murray Creek road near the saddle, to the Ajax mine. The Council then adjourned.
