REEFTON HOSPITAL.
The monthly meeting of the Ke^fton Hospital Committee was held on Wednesday evening, 6th August 1884. Present : Messrs Beeche (Chair), Bowman, Craig, Collings, Connolly, Lee, Steele and Twohill. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The' Surgeon Supei'intendent's report was read and adopted. COP. RESPONDENCE . The following correspondence was laid before the Committee : — Dr. Grabarn's report of: last inspection. Letter from Colonial Secretary, re rules, and from Mr W. Campbell, re Dr. Thorpe. Proposed by Mr Twohill, seconded by Mr Steele and carried— That the correspondence as read be received. Accounts amounting to £129 7s KM, were passed for payment. Proposed by Mr Col lings, seconded by Mr Twohill, and carried —That the policy of Insurance for £1-00 be renewed in the Equitable Company, the Imperial Company having withdrawn. Proposed by Mr Collings, seconded by Mr Bowman, and carried — That the consideration of Mr Campbell's letter stand over until the meeting on Bth inst. Proposed by Mr Steele, seconded by Mr Twohill, and carried — That the following members of Committee, viz, Messrs Bowman, Collings and Steelp. interview Dr. Thorpe re leave of ab.-senoe for benefit of health. The Secretary was directed to telegraph re cost and supply of a set of obstrefcric instruments. The meeting then adjourned until Friday, at 9 o'clock p.m. Adjourned meeting of Committee held on Friday evening, Bth August, 18S4. Present : Messrs Beeche, ('Chair), Bowman, Cohen, Collings, Connolly, '. Lee, Patterson, Sfceele and Twohill. | The subcommittee deputed to ?^e \ Dr Thorpe in accordance with minutes ] of meeting of Gth inst. delivered their i report. | Mr Win. Campbell's letter was again : read. • ; Resolved. — That Mr Campbell be i informed that it is outside the province of the Committee to deal with his letter. Besolved unanimously — That this meeting having considered the precarious state of the Surgeon Superintendent's health, decide to terminate the appointment of Dr Thorpe, by giving him three months notice. The Secretary was instructed to give Dr Thorpe the notice as above. Resolved — That an advertisement be inserted in the Dunedin, Auckland, and Wellington papers, calling for applications for the appointment of Surgeon Superintendent to the Beefton Hospital. Non resident. Salary £250 per annum with right of private practice. Applications will be received until Wednesday, October Ist, 1884, at 6 p.m. The meeting then adjourned.
